The story
About this festival.
The Arizona Wine Festival @ Heritage Square is a grand tasting wine festival held annually over two days in January in Phoenix, Arizona — featuring 20 Arizona wineries, 70 artist and artisan vendors, food trucks, and live entertainment at Heritage Square, 113 N 6th St. Saturday, January 24, 2026 runs from 11 AM to 7 PM, and Sunday, January 25 runs from 11 AM to 5 PM, with pre-sale tickets starting at $30 per day.
The Arizona Wine Festival @ Heritage Square distinguishes itself through a dedicated Barrel Tasting experience staged inside the Laft Pavilion, transformed into a Barrel Room for the event. Six wineries participate in this component, including Page Springs Cellars, Keeling Schaefer Vineyards, RuBrix Wines, Omphalos Winery, Birds & Barrel Vineyards, and Soaring Wines. Attendees can taste wines directly from the barrel — varieties such as Petit Verdot, Durif, Sangiovese, Roussanne, and co-fermented Grenache/Mourvèdre blends — and compare them to finished bottled wines while speaking directly with winemakers about the aging process. A grape stomp competition adds a participatory element: teams of 2 compete to press the most juice from grapes, with prizes for top finishers, at $20 per team paid at the gate.
Each daily ticket includes a commemorative wine glass and 10 tasting tickets. Saturday pre-sale tickets are $35 (or $45 at the gate); Sunday pre-sale tickets are $30 (or $40 at the gate). A beer tasting option is also available at $20 pre-sale ($25 at the gate), which includes a beer tasting glass and 10 tasting tickets. Additional tasting tickets can be purchased in 5-ticket increments for $10. Heritage Square is located in downtown Phoenix, making the festival accessible by public transit.
Many of the 20 participating wineries source their grapes from the Willcox AVA in southeastern Arizona, a region that produces approximately 74% of the state's wine grapes. Vineyards there typically sit at 4,200 feet or higher, where warm days, cool nights, and alluvial volcanic soils create conditions suited to varieties like Syrah, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Franc, Aglianico, and Tempranillo — grapes well represented across the festival's tasting lineup.
