The story

About this festival.

Napa Valley Wine Library Association Tasting is an annual grand tasting event held each spring in Saint Helena, California — and its 62nd edition marks over six decades of continuous wine education in Napa Valley. The 62nd Annual Grand Tasting takes place Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Martini Park at Louis M. Martini Winery, 254 Saint Helena Highway South, Saint Helena, CA. Fifty distinguished Napa Valley wineries are scheduled to pour more than 100 wines, including both current releases and library wines — bottles with significant bottle age that are rarely available outside private cellars.

What distinguishes the Napa Valley Wine Library Association Tasting from a conventional public tasting is direct access to the people who made the wines. Winemakers and winery family members pour at the event, allowing guests to ask specific questions about vintage conditions, vineyard sources, and winemaking decisions. The 2026 event also includes a 2nd Annual Silent Auction featuring 25 lots of select wines, tours, and unique tasting experiences, with proceeds supporting the Napa Valley Wine Library Collection and ongoing wine education programs. La Saison Napa is catering the event with seasonal fare designed to complement the wines being poured.

The Napa Valley Wine Library Association was founded in 1963 and offered the first public wine tasting in Napa Valley that same year. The organization's collection — housed at the Saint Helena Public Library — includes rare books, oral history transcripts, wine labels, and technical publications available to the public. Ticket prices had not been confirmed at time of publication; check the official website at napawinelibrary.com for current pricing and registration. The 2.5-hour format runs from late afternoon into early evening, making it practical to plan dinner in Saint Helena afterward.
