The story

About this festival.

Unified Wine and Grape Symposium is a professional industry conference and trade show held annually in January in Sacramento, California — recognized as the largest wine and grape conference and trade show of its kind in North America. Founded in 1995 through a partnership between the American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) and the California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG), the event has built over 32 years of continuous programming. The 2026 edition ran January 27–29 at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, located at 1400 J Street in Sacramento.

Unified Wine and Grape Symposium combines a multi-track educational program with a two-day trade show featuring over 650 exhibitors across more than 700 booths. Session tracks cover winemaking, grapegrowing, business and operations, marketing and public relations, and a dedicated Spanish-language track. Topics at the 2026 symposium ranged from redox potential management during fermentation to vineyard technology adoption, mergers and acquisitions, and wine marketing strategy. The trade show draws thousands of industry professionals — suppliers, growers, winemakers, and service providers — making it a concentrated point of contact for the full supply chain from vineyard through distribution.

The conference spans 3 days, with registration opening on Monday and sessions and exhibits running Tuesday through Thursday. All sessions and events are held across the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, the Hyatt Regency, and the Sheraton Grand. Sacramento International Airport is 15 minutes from the convention center. Early registration has historically offered savings of up to $200. Audio recordings of sessions are available for purchase after the event for those who cannot attend in person.

The 2027 Unified Wine and Grape Symposium is scheduled for January 26–28, 2027, with exhibits on January 27 and 28, again in Sacramento. The program is developed in collaboration with a committee of industry and academic professionals, and the organizing bodies — ASEV and CAWG — have maintained this format since the event's founding three decades ago.
