The story

About this festival.

Black Food & Wine Festival is a one-day food and wine festival in Washington, Washington D.C., held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 2 to 9 PM on The Great Lawn at Historic Walter Reed. General admission is $75. The festival is produced by MVEMNT, a D.C. media platform covering Black business and culture, and its whole program is built around Black-owned producers: wine, spirits and beer samplings from Black-owned brands, food from Black-owned vendors, and a marketplace of Black-owned makers.

The format is an all-day lawn party rather than a timed tasting session. Organizers tell guests to bring lawn chairs and blankets and settle in; the schedule runs live bands and DJs, cooking demonstrations, photo installations and games across the seven hours. Admission tiers beyond the $75 general ticket are listed on the ticket page.

The event is strictly 21 and over with a valid ID at entry. The prohibited-items list is long and worth reading before you pack: no tents, outside food or beverages, pets, backpacks, large umbrellas or oversized chairs. Tickets are non-refundable, and if the weather turns, a rain date is announced rather than a cancellation. Historic Walter Reed sits in upper Northwest D.C. near the Maryland line, a short ride from the Takoma Metro station.
