The story

About this festival.

The Roost Ancient World Wine Fest is a walk-around tasting and bottle sale at The Roost food hall in Washington, Washington D.C., on Sunday, October 18, 2026, built around 30 wines from the oldest winemaking regions in the world: Georgia, Armenia, Lebanon, Greece, Croatia and Ukraine among them, made both in traditional methods and with modern techniques. Tickets are $45 and cover the full tasting of sparkling, white, orange, rosé and red wines plus access to the bottle sale at one-day prices.

The pours come from several of D.C.'s wine distributors, whose reps do the pouring, so it functions as a try-before-you-buy afternoon for a category that is hard to taste anywhere else in the city. The Roost is on Pennsylvania Avenue SE on Capitol Hill, a short walk from the Potomac Avenue Metro station.
