The story

About this festival.

Philly Black Wine & Spirits Fest is a one-day tasting festival in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, celebrating Black-owned wine and spirits brands, and its fourth annual edition is Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Girard College. Admission is sold in two sessions: VIP Sips opens at 1 PM for $80, and General Sips opens at 3 PM for $58. Both cover wine and spirits sampling from a mix of national Black-owned labels and local favorites, live DJs and performances, food vendors, a local makers' market and art and photo installations.

The 2026 theme is From Bourbon Street to Broad Street, a New Orleans tribute, and guests are encouraged to dress in purple, green and gold with black or cream accents. For a more structured tasting, the organizer, Kabila Events, sells $30 add-on tasting sessions: 30-minute guided flights led by sommeliers and wine and spirits educators, in four themed options with limited seats.

Girard College is a walled campus in North Philadelphia, a few blocks from the Broad Street Line's Girard station. The event is 21 and over. Food is sold by the vendors rather than included in admission, so budget for it separately. VIP early access is the main reason to pay the higher tier: two extra hours with the pouring tables before the general crowd arrives, and the guided tasting sessions are easier to book from the earlier slot.
