The story

About this festival.

Rootstock Wine Fest is an annual grand tasting held in Waco, Texas, celebrating wines grown and produced across the state. The festival, held from 2–7 PM at the Earle Harrison House & Pape Gardens, has operated since 2016 and features 15 wine tastings per ticket. In 2026, every Texas wine poured will be made from French grape varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay, connecting Texas viticulture to European winemaking traditions.

Every ticket includes a keepsake wine glass, corkscrew, and tote bag, plus entry to a live Spanish guitar performance and flamenco dance lessons. The festival pairs wines with food from local chefs and restaurants serving authentic cheeses, breads, crepes, and lobster rolls, along with a complimentary plate of Spanish paella. An educational session allows visitors to compare French wines with their Texas-grown counterparts—a distinctive offering for those curious about how European varietals perform in Texas terroir.

Online tickets cost $45; gate tickets are $60. All attendees receive access to the musical act and educational session (with RSVP). The festival's focus on Texas-produced wines and its integration of culinary and educational components make it practical for both newcomers exploring regional wine and collectors seeking ambitious Texas producers.
